How to archive and reactivate a chat group?

At the end of your season you can archive a chat group so its no longer available to join. You can also reactivate an archived group.

Updated this week

When a chat group is archived it means it will no longer be available for new people to join. The group admins can no longer send messages in the group and it will disappear form the chat feed.

Additionally, archiving preserves the group's data to meet compliance and audit trail requirements, ensuring that no activity within the group is permanently lost.

ClubZap provides tools for effective group management, including options for archiving to remove groups from visibility and preserve data, as well as limitations like the inability to delete groups permanently.

Archiving a Chat Group

If you are a group administrator you will have access to archiving a chat group.

  1. Open the chat group

  2. Click on the settings button in the top right

  3. At the bottom of the Group Info screen select Archive Group

  4. Confirm your intention to archive by selecting Yes

Groups cannot be permanently deleted on ClubZap. Instead, the platform uses archiving to retain activity for compliance and audit purposes, while effectively removing the group from active use.

To manage group membership and visibility effectively:

  • Use clear group names and descriptions to differentiate groups.

  • Archive groups instead of deleting when no longer needed.

  • Unarchive thoughtfully to keep the interface organized.

Unarchive a Chat Group

If you are a group administrator you will have access to reactivate an archived chat group.

  2. Tap into the Search bar at the top of your screen to reveal an Active and archive tab as per screenshot below.

  3. Tap on the Archive Tab to view your archived groups.

  4. Tap on the group you wish to reactivate and confirm by tapping Yes.
