Why your club Privacy Statement needs to be on your Hosted Webpage
As a hosted content provider, we offer a platform that enables clubs like yours to share content and interact with users. We provide the infrastructure for hosting the content, interactions, and data collection that occur on your hosted page. Your club is, however, responsible for the purposes and means by which you collect and deal with the personal data which is ingested through it. Those needs are different from club to club, and so are specific to your business.
Since your page may collect personal data—whether through contact forms, product sales, membership or other means—it is essential that visitors understand how their data is handled by you. This is why your privacy statement must be placed on your hosted page. (ClubZap’s privacy statement is on other areas of the Platform).
Here’s why this is important:
Transparency & Compliance – Privacy laws such as GDPR, and others require businesses, regardless of their legal form, to clearly inform users about data collection, storage, and usage practices. Since you control how data is collected and used on your page, your privacy policy should reflect these specifics.
User Trust – Providing a clear and accurate privacy statement helps build trust with your visitors. It reassures them that their data is being handled responsibly and in accordance with applicable laws.
Legal Responsibility – While we, as the platform provider, have our own privacy policy governing our infrastructure and general services, we do not control the data you collect or process on your hosted page. Therefore, the responsibility to disclose and comply with privacy regulations lies with you as the content owner.
Customization for your needs – Different businesses collect different types of data for different purposes. Your privacy statement ensures that visitors receive the correct information about how their data is used in your specific context.
To comply with both best practices and legal requirements, we strongly recommend that you:
Place your privacy statement prominently on your hosted page.
Ensure it clearly outlines what data is collected, how it is used, and users’ rights.
Keep it updated to reflect any changes in your data practices.
