What size images can I add for news articles?

Thumbnail images for articles and embedded images require certain sizing for clarity.

Thumbnail Images

These are the images associated with the headline of a news article and appear in the news feed on the app, website and social media.

For best presentation of the Feature Image on your site and social media pages (when the article is published or shared), the image to be uploaded should meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum image dimensions are 200 pixels wide by 200 pixels tall.

  • The size of the image file must not exceed 8MB.

  • For best display on devices with high resolution screens, use an image that is at least 1200 pixels wide by 630 pixels tall.

Any square geometry for an image will work fine.
We auto size the thumbnail images down to 400px X 400px

Article Images
The embedded images in news articles are also sized down to be a max width of 600px with height scaled proportionally.

Landscape V Portrait Orientation
Any landscape image as long as the main focus can fit within a square geometry centred in the image is ideal.
Any portrait image as long as the main focus can fit in a square centred on the vertical centre of the image.

Note: Higher resolution the better, but image size is irrelevant as we just scale it as noted above
